Family friendly selections including “Where’s Red Robin”, with guest narrator, and classics like Vivaldi’s “Spring” will entertain and educate both young and old alike. Fabulous and free pre-concert activities including bounce houses, crafts, face painting, and more will be available for children attending the concert starting at 1:30 PM. Children who dress like a spring time animal (examples: bunny, bird, butterfly, insect) or flower will receive a free Webby's Sno Cone. Sno cones will also be for sale. Children and Students are admitted for free. March 20th, 7:30 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal ChurchChoral works from Joseph Haydn’s “The Creation” and Franz Schubert’s “Mass in G” will be performed by the chorus, guest soloists and a chamber orchestra. At intermission, everyone is invited to sample Austrian strudel as we experience Austria together. April 30th, 7:30 PM at the Dunn CenterFeaturing vocal hits that you can sing along with, this concert will showcase familiar big band swing as well as newer jazz that is guaranteed to give you an evening of musical enjoyment. Bring a friend and come relax as you listen to the toe-tapping melodies of the Tar River Swing Band. The Tar River Orchestra and Chorus is a vital organization to the community of Rocky Mount, and the State of North Carolina. This organization is dedicated to sustaining music performance and music appreciation as a necessary educational foundation. Music education, both within the performance groups as well as our area schools, is an important part of our mission. The Tar River Orchestra performs annually for school children, providing essential exposure to classic renditions and insight into the instrumental make up of the orchestra and the unique characteristics of each instrument. All of this is possible because of a generous community composed of supportive corporations, institutions and individuals who share this commitment to music as an essential element in enhancing the culture of our community. Contributions at any level are welcomed and appreciated. |
