The Disability & Mental Health Summit has always been about the future. For students with disabilities, the role of transition planning in helping to make that future a bright one for youth with IEPs and 504 plans cannot be overstated. Despite Pennsylvania’s commitment to supporting transition-aged youth (14-26 years old), we know that many of our students with disabilities struggle to find success as adults. That is why we are excited to announce that we are offering an evening program on May
26th for transition-aged youth that will be facilitated by Youth Move and the PEAL Center. This special program will run from 5 - 7:30 p.m., with dinner provided during the first half hour. Following that, students will participate in the Life Through My Lens anti-stigma program and then, after a short break, will choose a hands-on activity focused on self care. There is, of course, no charge to attend, and a parent or guardian is welcome to accompany their child if they would like.
